The joint ESportZ initiative of ESL and ZEIT für die Schule (a school project by the ZEIT publishing house) is supporting us with a donation of 44 Nintendo Switch game consoles!

The Nintendo Switch games console has been one of the most popular games consoles worldwide since its release in March 2017 and continues to enjoy great popularity. The ESportZ initiative is now donating 44 copies including as many versions of the game “Splatoon 2” to Gaming Aid.

Chairwoman Svenja Bhatty expressed her gratitude: “With this generous donation, we can fulfil and enrich the everyday lives of many children and young people. All of the donated consoles will go to 17 different residential groups at the Don Bosco centre in Osnabrück. In total, we make 136 children and 85 carers happy. We would like to thank ZEIT für die Schule, ESL and all those involved and ESportZ employees for this wonderful campaign, which will make many children’s eyes light up, especially in such difficult times.”

Dr Mark Schiffhauer, Chief Creative Officer of the ZEIT publishing group, commented: “With ESportZ, we are promoting the media skills of schoolchildren in Germany. There is more to e-sports than just gaming; it builds bridges from the real to the digital world and helps to teach valuable skills such as concentration, perseverance, self-reflection and strategic thinking. At the same time, team spirit and inclusion are practised. Therefore, we’re thrilled to back Gaming Aid, an outstanding organization in the gaming industry committed to uplifting and assisting young people, through our donation.”

About ESportZ
ESportZ, an initiative by ESL and ZEIT für die Schule, brings e-sports into Germany’s classrooms. The initiative provides teachers with high-quality teaching materials that they can use to integrate e-sports topics into their curriculum. A tournament series, for which mixed teams of students and teachers can register, bridges the gap between theory and practice and brings e-sports to life for teachers and their students.
