After the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, which shook us to the core, we naturally looked for ways to help.
On 9 March, our Chair Svenja Bhatty visited the central collection point for donations in kind operated by the city of Düsseldorf. We responded to an appeal for donations from the “Flüchtlinge Willkommen in Düsseldorf e.V.” association. In addition to the usual donations in kind, we were also explicitly asked for mobile phones and power banks, which we ordered. We have already supported them with a large donation so that hardware could be purchased for the Welcome Centre. The association helps the refugees there with interpreters, visits to the authorities, shopping vouchers, etc.
